Climate Smart Gallatin’s projects, both current and completed, are described below. We are excited to share the work of our committee and hope that it inspires you to join us in our efforts to help Gallatin become a town that acts in the best interests of its residents and the planet.
Gallatin Heat Pump Campaign
Climate Smart Gallatin participates in the Regional Clean Heating, Cooling, and Energy Efficiency Campaign which is sponsored by the Columbia County Climate Smart Task Force and Capital District Heat Smart. The campaign provides information on current technologies on heating and cooling and can link interested persons with NYSERDA approved vendors to evaluate their options. Heat Pumps are an important technology to improve efficiency and reduce costs for heating and cooling in homes and buildings. Information on low income subsidies as well as tax incentives is available.
Gallatin Electric Vehicles Campaign
With thousands of public charging stations and up $9,500 in upfront discounts from Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tax credits and Drive Clean Rebates for the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle (EV), there’s never been a better time to drive electric in New York State.
With more than 60 electric car models to choose from that qualify for the Drive Clean Rebate, plus the IRA used EV tax credit, you’re bound to find an EV that best fits your style, budget and driving needs.

Solarize Gallatin
Solarize Gallatin is an exciting community solar opportunity that allows homeowners, renters and businesses to purchase their electricity from local solar farms. This is ideal for people whose locations are not suited for solar panels, who do not want to install panels or who do not own the building in which they reside or work but still pay for the utility.
Solarize Gallatin was sponsored by the Town of Gallatin, The Columbia County Board of Supervisors and the Climate Smart Communities Committees of both the Town and the County.
